An Exciting Visit to a Childcare Centre

As a nurse with over 20 years of experience and knowledge of trauma management, I care for children with special needs in my home. I do not provide care in any respite house. Rather, I provide care in their homes and maintain a routine to keep them safe and happy in their familiar environment.

This week I did something very different. It was a fun and fulfilling event for me.

I visited a childcare centre where my friend works and spoke to her class about how nurses can assist you with an operation.

Though we educate and train support workers, talking about nursing was a memorable experience. However, when it comes to training regarding taking care of participants, we guide support staff with managing medical conditions, disabilities, and how to care for them. We provide training regarding how to deal with peg tubes, oxygen therapy etc.
